DR SLAVA POEL SUMMARY

Dr Slava Poel is a Melbourne trained Anaesthetist and Pain specialist. He spent his formative years at Monash Health and later at The Alfred, to further pursue his interest in managing patients with challenging pain presentations.

As part of Dr Poel’s commitment to patient care, he is available for ward consultations and collaborative patient management. Dr Poel is also available to see outpatient referrals in his practice in Berwick at the St John of God Specialist Centre. He is able to offer opinion regarding suitability for minimally invasive pain management interventions, spinal cord stimulation, inpatient infusion therapies such as ketamine and lignocaine as well as general medication advice. 

Dr Poel also offers a multidisciplinary approach to assessment and treatment of complex pain presentations.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Poel has published research in the area of the gut microbiome and chronic lower back pain and is an active member of several professional organisations, including the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (Faculty Pain Medicine), Pelvic Pain Victoria (PPV), the Australian Pain Society (APS), and the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP).

In continuing his education and professional development, Dr Poel regularly attends conferences, workshops, and courses, including the Pelvic Pain Meetings, the Australian Pain Society Annual Scientific Meeting, and various Spine Intervention Society workshops.
