DR RICHARD JAMIESON SUMMARY
Dr Richard Jamieson is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty in shoulder, elbow, and wrist surgery. He specialises in arthroscopic procedures and joint replacement surgery and provides expert care for upper limb conditions.
Originally from Hobart, Dr Jamieson earned his medical degree with First Class Honours from the University of Tasmania. He then completed orthopaedic training in Victoria and Tasmania and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016. In 2017, he pursued an upper limb fellowship in Melbourne, holding honorary positions at the Dandenong Hand Unit and the Austin Hospital.
Further refining his expertise, Dr Jamieson trained internationally in hand, wrist, and elbow surgery at renowned institutions, including the Kaplan Hand Institute in Barcelona, Wrightington Hospital in the UK, and Amphia Hospital in the Netherlands.
Dr Jamieson holds a public appointment at the Royal Hobart Hospital and operates privately at Calvary Hospital, St John’s Hospital, and Hobart Private Hospital. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively interested in clinical and biomechanical research and serves as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Tasmania, overseeing undergraduate medical education within the orthopaedic unit at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
