DR DANIELLE FLORIDA’S SUMMARY

Dr Danielle Florida completed her undergraduate medical training in 1989 before entering general practice, working alongside her father Dr Robert Florida at Round Corner Dural for twelve years. It was during this period that she developed a deep and enduring interest in mental health, leading her to complete a Masters in Psychological Medicine.

Commencing formal psychiatric training in 2004, Dr Florida trained at Cumberland Hospital before undertaking placements in Canberra, New York, and New Zealand — gaining an internationally informed clinical perspective. On returning to Australia she completed her psychiatric training in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, subspecialising in Addictions. She graduated as a Fellow psychiatrist in 2012 and joined Concord Drug Health, where her clinical focus centred on detoxification, stabilisation, and rehabilitation for patients presenting with co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders.

Dr Florida is a registered Opiate Treatment Program Prescriber with a longstanding interest in pain management. She designed and led the Phoenix Addictions Outpatient Group Program, integrating contemporary psychological frameworks including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
