DR BENJAMIN TREWIN’S SUMMARY

Dr Trewin is a Neurologist & MS Neuroimmunologist with a warm, professional attitude who uses his experience, attention to detail, and emotional astuteness to provide optimal outcomes for his patients.
 
A neurologist with subspecialty training in Multiple Sclerosis, MOG Antibody Disease and Neuromyelitis Optica.
 
He completed his BAppSc (Exercise, Sport Science & Nutrition) in 2007 and MBBS in 2012 at the University of Sydney (USyd).  He completed his specialty training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital and Concord Repatriation General Hospital (2019). He has completed a PhD in Neuroimmunology at USyd (2024) and is a published first author of 5 peer-reviewed articles in high impact journals. He has delivered an oral platform presentation at the European Committee for Treatment and Research in MS (ECTRIMS) annual meeting in Copenhagen in 2024.
 
While Benjamin’s clinical and PhD focus is in Neuroimmunological Disorders (e.g. Multiple Sclerosis, MOGAD, NMO, Autoimmune Encephalitis), he maintains a broad interest in all aspects of neurology, especially complex migraine disorders and management with Botox injections and Lesser and Greater Occipital Nerve (GON) Blocks.

Neuroimmunology

Multiple Sclerosis (MS), MOGAD, Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) & Autoimmune encephalitis

Dr Trewin is a subspecialist in autoimmune neurology, he completed his MS & Neuroimmunology Fellowship at RPAH in 2018. 
He has completed a PhD at the University of Sydney that focused on differentiating the clinical and MRI presentation of MOGAD from MS and NMO at onset, and on comparing the effectiveness and tolerability of immunotherapies in MOGAD.

Migraine & Gon Blocks

Migraine, Bruxism & Occipital Neuralgia

Dr Trewin offers Botulinum Toxin therapy for headache/migraine and teeth grinding (“Bruxism”) and greater and lesser occipital nerve blocks (“GON Block”) for occipital neuralgia, which frequently contributes to migraine and cluster headache symptoms.
