Preparing your client for an IME
To ensure the assessment runs smoothly and the report is as comprehensive as possible, we recommend advising your client of the following before their appointment.
Assessments are conducted via face-to-face, telehealth, or file review depending on the nature of the matter. Hospital, home, and correctional facility visits can also be arranged on request.
What Your Client Should Bring
To assist the specialist in conducting a thorough assessment, your client should bring:
- A list of current medications and prescriptions
- Imaging — X-rays, CT scans, MRI films and reports
- Treating doctor and specialist reports
- Pathology reports
- Any relevant workplace or injury documentation
- The appointment typically runs 45 minutes to one hour
- The assessment may include a physical examination, psychological interview, or both
- Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended if a physical examination is likely
- A support person may attend but will not be present during the examination itself
- A chaperone can be arranged on request
