DR JOEL SINGER’S SUMMARY

Dr Joel Singer is a Consultant Psychiatrist with extensive experience in the treatment and management of a broad range of psychiatric conditions, including Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety disorders and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Dr Singer is also skilled in the provision of medicolegal assessments for children, adolescents and adults in civil, criminal and family court matters. He has expertise in personal injury, public liability, fitness for work, medical negligence, total and permanent disability (TPD), family court, and historical abuse matters. Dr Singer holds accreditation as a Permanent Impairment Assessor with WorkCover NSW SIRA.

Additionally, Dr Singer has special expertise in the treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders, having trained at the Neuropsychiatric Institute, Sydney and the Kogarah Developmental Assessment Service. He has also worked providing care for young people in forensic settings in New South Wales, and is the recipient of a HETI Award in Psychiatry and Mental Health for the provision of adolescents and their families at the Children’s Court Clinic.

After graduating with Distinction from the University of NSW, Dr Singer worked and trained at leading hospitals in Sydney, including St Vincent’s and Prince of Wales Hospitals. He has completed a medical clerkship at Harvard University. Dr Singer is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, and has gained a Certificate of Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from the College.

Dr Singer has previously held academic appointment as a conjoint lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of NSW, where he was involved in undergraduate medical teaching and examination. Dr Singer has co-authored several journal articles and a textbook chapter
