Whether you’re attending in person or via video conferencing, our medical specialists will always provide a high level of care. We aim to make you feel as comfortable as possible throughout your appointment.

What to bring on the day.

What to bring
  • Medical Reports: Bring any x-rays, scans, MRIs, or reports you have. If you can’t access them or no longer have them, that’s okay. 
  • Photo ID: You’ll need to bring a photo ID. 
  • Consent Form: You’ll be asked to sign a consent form before your assessment begins. 
  • For Psychiatric/Psychological Appointments: No scans or reports are needed. 
What to wear
  • Wear comfortable, loose clothing to allow easy access to the affected area. 
  • The specialist may also require you to undress for this assessment partially; however, please be assured that our medical specialists are experienced professionals who conduct examinations with integrity and discretion, and gowns and screens are available for your use. available. 
How to prepare
  • Arrival Time: Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork. 
  • Support Person: You can bring a family member or friend.

    Your injury history will only be taken from your support person if you have difficulty speaking.

     
  • Telehealth: If your assessment is via video, ensure you’ve filled out the Information and Consent Form provided by the referring organisation. 

The assessment

What happens
  • Medical History: We’ll ask about your injury or illness, including how it happened and its impact on your daily life. 
  • Physical Exam: If required, a physical examination will be conducted by our experienced specialists, who will ensure your privacy and comfort. 
  • Psychiatric/Psychological Assessments: These may not involve a physical exam but will focus on your mental health and history. 
What to expect
  • Modesty and Comfort: If your injury requires undressing, we offer gowns, screens, and chaperones to ensure your comfort. 
  • Clothing Recommendations: 
    • Spine Injury: Loose shirt 
    • Upper Limb Injury: Sleeveless shirt 
    • Lower Limb Injury: Shorts or loose trousers 
    • Please wear comfortable undergarments. 
What happens after your appointment
  • Our specialist will compile a report based on your history, physical examination (if applicable), and any medical documents you’ve provided. 
  • The completed report will be sent to the organisation that referred you for the assessment.

Can I bring a support person?

Yes, you’re welcome to bring a friend or family member to your appointment for support.
