
PROF DRUMMOND SUMMARY
Professor Kate Drummond (AM) is Director of Neurosurgery at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Head of Central Nervous System Tumours at the VCCC Parkville Precinct. A graduate of the University of Sydney with advanced training in neuro-oncology from Harvard, she specialises in brain tumour surgery, including awake craniotomy and fluorescence-assisted techniques. Her research spans glioma biology, immunotherapy, and supportive care, with over 150 peer-reviewed publications and over $23 million in grant funding.
Professor Drummond serves on several national and international neuro-oncology committees and is Co-Editor in Chief of the Journal of Clinical Neuroscience. She is also a global health advocate, delivering surgical education in low-resource settings through Pangea Global Health Education. In 2019, she was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for her service to medicine and the community.
