DR TONY KOSTOS SUMMARY
Dr Tony Kostos is a highly experienced rheumatologist with specialist training from Repatriation General Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital, and St Thomas’ Hospital, London. His expertise covers all aspects of general rheumatology, including inflammatory arthritis, mechanical joint conditions, soft tissue injuries, periarticular disorders, and connective tissue diseases.
CLINICAL EXPERTISE & PROCEDURES
Dr. Kostos has considerable experience in performing practical procedures such as:
- Epidural injections (translumbar and sacral) for sciatic syndrome
- Joint aspiration and injection techniques for musculoskeletal conditions
- Soft tissue and periarticular injections for pain relief
- Electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies
He has worked closely with physiotherapists and occupational therapists to understand and apply the most suitable techniques for treating a variety of rheumatological and rehabilitation problems.
SPORTS MEDICINE AND TEACHING
With extensive involvement in sports medicine, Dr. Kostos has worked with Australian Rules footballers and athletes, helping manage injuries and optimise recovery.
Dr. Kostos also has a strong teaching background, having taught general medicine and rheumatology to undergraduate medical students, physiotherapists, and fellowship candidates in both Melbourne and London.
